Destroyers of Hope was formed in March of 1999, by a person named Whirlwind. At the time, DoH was playing the mech game Starsiege, but DoH had quickly found its leader was constantly unavailable, and never heard from, aside from the initial communication to join the clan. I, Thor, the first recruit of the clan, set out to lead the clan, in light of the missing leader.
A week after Thor was taken into DoH, there were two other members that Whirlwind had communicated with about joining, DarkWanderer and Kaspian. From that point on, Thor lead DoH into the game of Starsiege with DarkWanderer and Kaspian always at his side.
Starsiege - March 1999 to 2001Time went by quickly as DoH built its forces to a respectable size. The founding members of DoH and the members that made DoH who they were, included:
Thor
DarkWanderer
Kaspian
Demuclese
Guardian Angel
Warmax
Platoon
IronBrickman
Jarred Syn
Mischief
Blue Death
DawnSeeker
With the above mentioned members, DoH became a force that was unstoppable. They led matches with untouchable scores and participated in a ladder league in which they reigned supreme. The biggest achievement for DoH came when they faced the Starsiege AllStar team and were victorious in 2 out of 3 matches. Other members that had helped mold DoH into the force it was, were:
Morphius
Razor1771
Sidewinder
Taz
Diamondback
MystyMaiden
Drac
With the combination of the founding members, and the extremely skilled members who entered later, DoH was by far one of the top ranking squads in the Starsiege Universe.
With the game losing all support from the developers, and the members feeling they had made their mark on the game, DoH had ventured out for pursuit of another arena. This pursuit lead them to the game Delta Force Land Warrior.
Delta Force Land Warrior - 2001 to 2001DoH had played this game for awhile, expecting the much anticipated release of Tribes2, but they had never truly found their niche in the game. So, within a few months DoH had moved to the game Tribes2.
Tribes - 2001 to 2001In preparing for Tribes2, DoH picked up the original to get familiar with the game.
Tribes2 - May 2001 to Aug. 2001Much can be said about DoHs' time in Tribes2, most of which was a building experience. DoH had entered the widely known ladder that was held by the Online Gaming League (the OGL), and had moved up from rank of 60 to the rank of 38 before leaving the ladder for various reasons. After that point, DoH made many attempts to rebuild the clan, always under the leadership of Thor and his right hand man, DarkWanderer.
Time passed and the clan grew bitter with the game Tribes2. There was horrible support, patches were more often than not making the game worse, and the clan lost interest in the game.
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault - Feb. 2002 to Dec. 2002Medal of Honor: Operation Spearhead - Dec. 2002 to Nov. 2003Call of Duty - Nov. 2003 to June 2004The next two years or so were spent playing the WWII genre games that stormed the gaming front, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Medal of Honor: Operation Spearhead, and lastly Call of Duty. Our time in MoH was great, overall. We reached number one on several occasions during our time with MoH:SH, and CoD was really short lived by us having had our fill of the whole WWII scene, and so we've left it behind us.
City Of Heroes - Apr. 2004 to Nov. 2004DoH went into playing City of Heroes, and found there was a lot of fun and a lot less pressure than playing a MMORPG. During that time we found that the group played just as well together there as they did in the FPS games. DoH was into City Of Heroes for about 8 months. CoH was the first MMORPG for DoH, and it continued to be a first choice of game type for all the members. While CoH was enjoyable, it grew a little bland, so they set out to find another more exciting and involved game.
World of Warcraft - Nov. 2004 - Jan. 2006This search led to the World of Warcraft MMORPG. Most of the members had a liking for D&D type gaming, so it appeared that DoH had found a home for awhile. The trailers were good, and DoH participated in the beta test of the game, finding it to their satisfaction. DoH started out on a Horde server, and there were many nights of PVP and raiding. While on the Magtheridon server, all of the Guild members reached the level cap of 60, and there were a few promotions handed out as well.
After a year in the game, tiring of the community's attitude in general, and wanting a slight change, DoH went to another, non-PVP server and started a guild of Alliance.
We played WoW for over two years, and for the first time recruited a handful of people into the guild in-game, outside of the clan. During this time Connor was elected into the WC, and Woapalanne, a long-time friend of DoH, was formally inducted into the clan. DarkWanderer came back to an active status.
DoH found that the community in WoW was still severely lacking, however, and with all the time invested, began to feel the game was becoming overly simple. Although enjoyable, it grew to be boring. At the same time, Dungeons and Dragons Online began to make its presence known.
Dungeons and Dragons Online - Dec. 2005 to Apr. 2006DDO was unanimously voted on to become the next game DoH would transition to. We had participated in a Stress Test, both to help the game developers and to give us a look into the game to determine if DoH would enjoy this game, and all members found it to be better than WoW.
DDO had a lot of marketing to lure people to the game, and that in itself was successful. During this time, DoH recruited a handful of people into the guild through the game. As time went on, however, after only a few months into the game, DoH grew tired of the lack of content and several other areas that were felt to be severely lacking. The result was a vote to discontinue DDO as a clan, although a few members continued playing during the lull between certain clan-played games.
Eve Online - May 2006 to June 2006A few members began to play the game Eve Online, mostly for fun, and while awaiting a few games that were in the future. This game, while complicated in a good way, was fun for a short time, however the main thing that turned DoH off to the game was the fact that it was unregulated enough to make players miserable as time went on.
Planetside - June 2006 - Summer 2007DoH re-discovered Planetside and the majority of the members had fun just playing this game, as a time-filler while waiting for a game to invest more time in for awhile and a way to sharpen some team skills.
Planetside & Battlefield 2142 - Aug 24th, 2006 to October 2006While playing Planetside, some DoH members have been accepted into the beta test for Battlefield 2142, and are playing-testing this game for suitability for the team.
BF 2142 turned out to be not to the members liking.
Vanguard - August 2006 to September 2006Vanguard had a few DoH members playing the beta version until it went live.
Lord of the Rings Online - Early to mid 2007The DoH team beta tested and then played Lord Of The Rings Online (Lotro) for awhile. It was a nicely-written game, and aesthetically great, but it didn't hold DoH interest for a long time.
Team Fortress 2 - October 15, 2007 to late 2008Several members of DoH have picked up Team Fortress 2 upon its release and are playing. TF2 appears to be a fun game for DoH for awhile, with no official competition considered. It is an answer for several members who have been missing the fun of playing together again.
Travian - January, 2008There is a free browser game, Travian, that a handful of DoH members have started playing, along with some of the members still playing TF2. It is another time-filler until Warhammer comes along.
Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures - May 20, 2008 to August 2008A few DoH members came back and played around with a long-standing game title, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures.
Warhammer Online - August 2008 to September 2008Several DoH members received Warhammer beta invites and played the game. Most members are currently playing this LONG-awaited MMORPG.
Warhammer Online - September 2008 to currentDoH members are playing WarHammer Online: Age of Reckoning as a group on the server Ostermark as Destruction.
