Medal of Honor
« on: Oct. 10, 2010, 01:22:32 PM »
Is there a better way to come back to these forums ? I don't think so.

Medal of Honor - Period.

Have any of you been reading up on the upcoming game from EA/Dice ? I love single player games just as much as MP and this one seems like it could be great. Of course, CoD Modern Warfare revolutionized the FPS genre so any game that resembles it in the least will be looked at as being copied. Regardless of those who make that statement, I strongly believe this game will be absolutely amazing, both the SP and MP versions.

I had the opportunity to play the private BETA some months ago after pre-ordering the game via steam and I played a couple of hours of the open beta and was impressed with the improvements made from one beta to the other. The graphics/physx are great and the gameplay is smooth. Of course, the game isn't as simple as Allied Assault was with all the level ups and customizations that are available this time around. Though it appears that the level ups for guns and accessories won't be as deep as the CoD series, it should still pack a pretty big punch.

I'm curious to know if anyone is interested in this game or have some of you played your end of Shooters ?

ps. Has anyone talked to Cujo at all over the last year or so ? *fury*

I still like my shooters. Personally I have been waiting for the new Call Of Duty. If they weren't coming out so close together I probably would have given Medal of Honor a better look.

Yeah, a month apart isn't much to play with but considering MoH comes out first, i'll have a month to play with it.

But there will probably be a difference between MW2 and Black Ops - Black Ops is being developed by Treyarch which developed World at War. I enjoyed the SP of World at War but the MP never really took off. Luckily at this point in time I'm no longer on the competitive side of gaming which will probably allow me to play both games.

Tomorrow is the day for MoH and i'm anxious for it :)

I'm on the fence between getting this or CoD:BO. The supposed realism of MoH is intriguing; I'm not sure if I'll find that fun or frustrating though...I guess I'll wait for the reviews before buying it. I also recently made the switch to Xbox 360 since I no longer am willing to keep devoting resources to maintaining an up-to-date gaming machine.

Yeah, keeping pace with a top of the line pc is expensive. I seem to upgrade quite often. I recently rebuilt my computer from scratch. Hopefully this build will lats me a while. I know i'll eventually upgrade my video cards considering they come out with newer/better ones quite fast. But 2 GTX460's in SLI should be good for a while.

Are you able to play shooting games on your 360 ? I refuse to. I'll play racing and sports game and rarely will I try a shooter (exception would be RE5). I'm so used to playing with a mouse and keyboard that I can't even begin to imagine myself playing with a damn controller. But that's just me.

As for MoH; Comparing videos from MoH and CoD, Medal of Honor seems to be more flashy in graphics and realism but Black Ops goes deeper in customization. I played the beta for MoH and it utilized DX11 and i'm not sure Black Ops will. Or if they do, it doesn't seem to be that impressive.

They should just come out with a newer Allied Assault. Just update the engine, physix and graphics and put everything that was in that game, in the updated one. That would be absolutely amazing -)

I'm still an Xbox newbie. I bought Halo: Reach and it's definitely harder to use the joysticks to aim/shoot, but it's something I'm getting used to. Definitely a lot less "twitch" involved, but I also don't have the kind of time anymore to develop the fast reflexes I once had.

I should clarify that I meant for video games. I am only 21 after all. Before the semester started, I did do martial arts 6 days a week, 2 hours a day *flexes muscles.* But gone are the days of me playing an fps 3-5 hours a day and being able to shoot the top of someone's head from 50 yards away without a scope.

Yeah I don't spend that much time playing online anymore. It's not like it used to be. I remember playing MoH:AA with Cujo religiously but can't do that anymore. Being an adult with responsibilities really sucks sometimes.

Either way, a good SP game now and then is fun. I wish I hadn't pre-odered the game via steam cause it doesn't get released for another 8 hours but it's available in stores! Boo

cheers. I'll let you guys know how the game is later on.

Quick update... I played about 20 minutes on the SP and just played a round on MP. The difference between the two is night and day.

SP only supports DX9 apparently and MP is DX11. Probably due to the fact that DICE made the MP and Danger Close/EA did the SP. The Multiplayer looks cool but I don't think there are that many maps. You are able to lean left/right while moving in the single player but there's no leaning on the MP version which is not a surprise.

I don't think this game will last long but that's just my personal opinion. I'll play some more and let you guys know. Cheers.

I've been reading the reviews for the game. So far they seem pretty mixed. Some really like the multiplayer, others say it's well-behind Call of Duty.

It depends which way you look at it. Every modern day shooting game that will come out now will always "copy" call of duty. There are differences that separate the two and there are things that resemble one another. It's normal... it's a damn Modern Day FPS game!!

Battlefield Bad Company 2 = Battlefield 1942 except it's modern day... All shooting games resemble another and that will never change.

Slightly disappointed by the length of the campaign, only took me about 4 hours...  Was good tho... good cinematics, typical but interesting story, some cool/really fun bits.

Havent tried the Tier 1 mode or multiplayer yet.

Yeah, campaign is kind of short and you don't have much of a weapon select too. The game looks good (graphics) but I wish it would have been in DX11 which would have made it that much better. They should come out with a Medal of Honor or Call of Duty game with an Open world concept for Single player. Now that would probably be a great game.

I've played the campaign 3 times already, on all difficulties heh. I played a bit of Tier 1 but that's just Single player missions in timed formats. Beat scores, headshot counts, time and etc. Neat option but ends up being the same.

Next game to try out will be CoD =)
