Tomorrow I'll be switching us over to SMF forums, so expect some down time. I've just grown very tired of all the bullshit associated with having phpBB, like the spam registrations (which I've cut down significantly but involved me doing extra work), forum exploits that allow people to do injection hacks, and the overall target that it is because it's so popular.
I've tested a few times the SMF forums and I've liked what I saw as an admin, and I use them a lot on 40k communities I frequent, however I just stuck out phpBB in hopes of the new version fixing many of the exploits. Maybe they will fix things but the fact remains it will continue to be the biggest target for forum software and I just don't have the time any more to dedicate to dealing with it.
So, you'll see some changes tomorrow but the software is much like what you're used to. I don't expect any long downtime, install is easy, just a matter of importing all this data. Oh, and the site integration I've done will need some work, and the user account integration to the site, but I'll get those elements done as time permits. My priority is the forums.
