Orange Box goes Retail
« on: Oct. 10, 2007, 09:11:11 AM »
Today the Halflife "Orange Box" went on sale. It is available for Windows, Xbox 360, and soon Playstation 3. It retails for $49.95 and can be picked up just about anywhere.

It contains:

Halflife 2

Halflife 2: Episode 1 stand alone (HL2 not required) single player storyline that follows HL2 and improvements to the steam "source engine".

Halflife 2: Episode 2 add-on that picks up gordan freeman's (you) storyline after the events of episode 1.

Portal Stand-alone first person perspective puzzle game where you use a "portal weapon" to travel. (ie firing the weapon on teh floor, and also a wall, then jumping through the portal you made in the floor would make you immediately appear at teh portal in the wall where your momentum of falling would move you in a direction relative to how you entered the first portal). This game sounds pretty neat to me. for a few minutes anyways.

Team Fortress 2 there is a thread regarding this game in the forums. it looks like what could be the most fun FPS to date ( IMHO ).

for more info here is my source linkage:

I see the box is $50, and TF2 is "worth" $30. Do you know if you can just buy TF2 or does it only come in the box set? Pretty sure I know the answer but want to make sure.

Yes, I would like to try out TF2 but I rather not pay for the halflife stuff if possible.

You cannot buy just TF2 that I am aware of.

So is there a majority of us thinking of jumping on this?

That is exactly what we're trying to figure out, the interest of TF2.

Ok, I'm installing Steam now and will snag TF2. I've no interest in the other games in the box.
